The factory of PSA Peugeot Citröen in Vigo and other ships of the polygon of Balaídos have been evicted in the last hour of the night of the Sunday by the proximity of the flames of the fires that surrounds the city olívica.

About a thousand workers of the night shift of the Vigo factory have been evacuated, as well as that of the employees of other auxiliary ships of the industrial estate.

The city of Vigo and its metropolitan area is being one of the zones most punished by the wave of fires that affects much of Galicia this Sunday.

According to Europa Press sources from PSA in Vigo, the decision to suspend the night shift, known as System 1, was adopted as a precaution and a crisis cell has been set up to monitor the evolution of fires.

These sources have stated that, for the moment, the dependencies of the factory are not in danger and it will be the crisis cell that decides whether to maintain or also suspend the 6.00 in the morning shift.

The decision will be taken in the next few hours and, if it materializes, will be responsible for each team responsible for notifying the workers by telephone. PSA sources have explained that this is an “exceptional” situation because of “the threat situation” that the flames pose.
