Natural gas to reduce emissions. The network of refueling points continues to grow

Reducing emissions is the workhorse of manufacturers, and even of heavy-duty vehicles, the Swedish manufacturer wants to meet this challenge through the introduction of CNG (vehicular natural gas). The European Union introduced in May a regulation whereby, from 2019, the CO2 figures of heavy-duty vehicles should be declared with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions. In Volvo Trucks, they are currently facing this situation by increasing their manufacture of gas-powered trucks for heavy transport operations.

“Many of our customers and their own customers are already striving to reduce their environmental impact. This will lead to a reduction in emissions, so we see a clear possibility of increasing LNG market shares as an essential part of the solution, “said Lars Mårtensson, Director of Environment and Transport,” and we hope that Volvo will finally be able to achieve zero emissions. Innovation from Volvo Trucks.

Natural gas, obviously, is a fossil fuel, but it can generate 20% less CO2 emissions than diesel. If biogas is used, the environmental impact can be reduced by up to 100%.

The natural gas vehicular in the Peninsula
Natural gas vehicle (LNG) can be liquefied natural gas (LNG) or compressed natural gas (CNG) its implementation in industry and maritime transport is a reality, and it seems that the next step is the conquest of commercial vehicles , taxis and of course trucks.

Currently between Spain and Portugal add 63 service stations of these fuels, all but one (of Palma de Mallorca), in the peninsula. But the network grows at a dizzying pace as there are 17 more stations to open soon.
