Seat has managed to complete the best month of April in its history after selling 50,100 cars around the world, which translates into a progression of 21% compared to the 41,400 vehicles it registered in the fourth month of the previous year, according to data published by the company.

With this volume, the Spanish firm exceeds the record recorded in April in the year 2000, with 45,100 units enrolled. The Commercial vice president of Seat, Wayne Griffiths, said that the company grows in Europe above the market trend and that beyond the ‘Old Continent’ lives a more positive situation thanks to its evolution in Algeria.

Griffiths also stressed that the globalization strategy of the company based in Martorell (Barcelona) is already paying off. “At the same time, we continue to innovate with new projects such as the eCommerce platform we have implemented to start sales in Norway, which will serve as an incubator for the development of solutions for the rest of the markets,” he said.

Roza 200,000 cars in four months

In this context, Seat explained that the commercial success of the brand and, in particular, that of the Ibiza, Arona and León models (manufactured in Martorell) will allow the company to hire 250 new employees indefinitely on June 1, they will join the 265 workers who joined in January and February.
Currently, the Volkswagen Group company produces 2,300 vehicles every day in Martorell, equivalent to 95% of the plant’s maximum capacity.

From the financial point of view, the increase in sales and the positive effect in the ‘mix’ due to the launch of the new Arona increased SEAT operating profit to 85 million euros in the first quarter of 2018, 51.4% more than in the same period of 2017, while the turnover of the company grew to 2,782 million euros, 11.8% more.
