Renault will open its fourth innovation laboratory in South Korea
Automotive NewsThe Renault group will open its fourth innovation lab (Open Innovation Lab) in the South Korean city of Seongnam, south of Seoul, this month to support emerging technology companies that can contribute to the development of next-generation vehicles.
Renault executive director Stephen Marvin signed a collaboration agreement with K-ICT Born2Global, an organization created by South Korea’s Ministry of Science and Technology to support emerging companies, on Saturday that stipulates the creation of a laboratory on its campus, the company said in a statement today.
Seongnam will be the fourth laboratory of Renault, which already has the Paris, Silicon Valley (USA) and Tel Aviv (Israel).
“With a high rate of car sales compared to population size and IT technologies and an IT environment, Korea is the perfect test bench to verify new technologies before they are launched in the global marketplace,” he said. Marvin explained.
The cooperation agreement will focus on finding new technology companies, establishing connections and planning support programs, organizing seminars and offering consulting services on R & D and investment, among other points.
