Automotive NewsGlobal sales of Japanese automaker Nissan in August increased by 3.7% in August compared to the same month last year, to 428,886 units sold.
In Japan, its local market delivered 22,774 tourism (18.3% more than in the same month of 2016), 5,066 light commercial vehicles (5.1% more) and 12,767 small vehicles (30.4% more), which total of 40,607 (19.9% more), according to the manufacturer explained in a statement.
Sales outside Japan grew 2.3% year-on-year to 388,279 units sold.
By region, Russia led the percentage rise in sales in August, up 19.3% and 8,433 units registered; followed by China (17.8% more and 122,319 units), Canada (14.4% and 13,163 units) and Europe (11.5% and 45,767 units).
The most declining regions in August were the United States (13.1% less and 108,326 units registered), followed by Mexico (12.6% and 29,159 registrations).
For its part, the world production of vehicles in August of the Japanese manufacturer grew 7% year-on-year to 477,472 units.
The number of passenger cars increased by 33.1% to 71,748 units; while that of commercial vehicles fell by 13.4% to 7,552 units.
Manufacturing in its domestic market rose 26.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, to 79,300 units; and out of the country 3.8%, to 398,172 units.
By country, China led the production of vehicles, with a 15.7% more and 117,818 units; followed by the United Kingdom, 6.7% more and 36,998 units manufactured, and Mexico, which remained stable with 81,681 units.
On the contrary, the United States topped the list of countries with the highest declines (9.1% and 87.326 units); followed by Spain, with 2.6% less and 3,582 units manufactured.
With regard to the accumulated (April-August 2017, for its fiscal year), sales were 2,249,904 units, 4.9% more than in the same period as a year before. Production of the five months cited was 2,328,068 units, up 4.7% year-on-year.
