‘Le Fil Rouge’ Vision Concept, the new Hyundai design line with ‘sporty sensuality’

This vehicle is part of the strategy of the South Korean brand to create vehicles with greater emotional value for drivers and passengers.

Hyundai wants to be sexy, and for that she has presented her new design line, officially called ‘Le Fil Rouge’, through a ‘concept car’ inspired by ‘Sport Sensuality’. There is nothing!

The South Korean manufacturer has unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show the new ‘Le Fil Rouge’ Vision Concept, which advances the lines of the future design of Hyundai. As the name suggests, ‘Le Fil Rouge’ (‘Driver Thread’) is a reflection of Hyundai’s belief that the past, present and future designs of the brand are connected.

“The Hyundai Vision Concept is a reinterpretation of Hyundai’s design DNA, which originated with the historic PONY Coupé Concept of the brand in 1974,” explains Luc Donckerwolke, director of the Hyundai Design Center. “Our goal is to build a valued brand by creating vehicles with greater emotional value for drivers and passengers,” adds the Belgian designer, born in Lima 52 years ago.

The design of this ‘concept car’ is based on a new theme called ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ (‘Sensuality Sport’), which will be present in the future Hyundai vehicles, from the saloons to the SUV. The goal of this new theme is to provide instinctive beauty, creating emotional value and desire in Hyundai customers. This new design is based on harmony, represented by four fundamental elements: proportion, architecture, design and technology.

According to the Hyundai design department, the ratio is obtained through a long wheelbase, large wheels and short overhangs. The long hood, with a generous distance between the front wheel and the base of the windshield, provides a comfortable driving position. In addition, the high waist line completes the set.

As for architecture, Hyundai adopts a new design approach called ‘Light Architecture’ (light architecture), with which it generates a dynamic appearance and a movement effect in the vehicle. The front and rear pillars, as well as the roof, intermingle with the overall silhouette of the car, as if the car were drawn with a single line.

The interior design differentiates between the needs of the driver and that of the passengers. The passenger seat provides more legroom to ensure comfort on long trips, while the driver’s seat is developed to increase driving fun with optimized ergonomics. The wraparound architecture of the seats increases comfort. Regarding the materials used, revitalized wood and high-tech fabrics stand out.

Another objective of the design team was to create a vehicle that, from a distance, would instantly recognize itself as a Hyundai. To this end, the side of the car has been concave and convex, while in the front there is a long hood and an improved front grill, in the form of a waterfall.

In terms of technology, the Hyundai prototype has a bidirectional air ventilation system. A panoramic floating screen, with haptic technology (tactile sensory technology), located in front of the driver, provides access to the climate controls and other vehicle configurations intuitively.
