General Motors Spain changes its name to Opel SpainAutomotive News
The new name is effective from October 1 and is part of the sale to the PSA Group.
General Motors España S.L.U. has announced the change of its corporate name to Opel España S.L.U, which will be effective from October 1, 2017, once the legal requirements have been fulfilled. This change, which only affects the name of the company, is part of the sale of Opel Automobile GmbH – with its brands Opel and Vauxhall – from General Motors to the PSA Group, which took effect on 1 August.
With the addition of Opel, the PSA Group is positioned as Europe’s second largest car manufacturer, with more than 3 million vehicles sold and a market share of 17 percent in 2016. Opel Spain employs 5,286 workers (December 2016) and in its 35-year history Opel has manufactured nearly 13 million units and sold nearly four million cars.
The range marketed by Opel Spain consists of 23 models, which include cars, from the small Karl to the new Insignia, monovolums such as the Zafira, the new family X SUV and crossover, with the recent additions of Crossland X and Grandland X, and light commercial vehicles, Corsa Van, Combo, Vivaro and Movano.
