Seeing a new Ferrari is not something that happens every day. The Frankfurt Motor Show is the venue chosen by the Italian brand for the official presentation of Portofino, successor of the California T, which had been on the market since 2014.

Under the hood it maintains the V8 turbo of Ferrari with an increase of power of 40 horses with respect to California T. The Portofino reaches the 600 horses by 560 horses of its predecessor. This increase has been achieved thanks to the inclusion of new components and a specific calibration of the engine software, which by the way, gives a more distinctive sound to the propeller.

The torque increases slightly to 760 Nm available between 3,000 and 5,250 revolutions per minute, even in seventh speed. The new power data allow the Portofino to make 0 to 100 km / h in a spectacular 3.5 seconds, surpassing in a tenth its predecessor. The maximum speed is 320 km / h, 4 km / h more than California T.

Maintains the essence of 2 + 2 and its rigid roof retractable. His aesthetic evokes a more aggressive and sporting image than his predecessor. The chassis, completely new, has suffered significant weight savings, thanks to the use of modern production technologies, according to Ferrari.

In addition, the Portofino adopts several mechanical elements that improve its dynamics and comfort in progress. Firstly, the third-generation electronic rear differential (E-Diff3) allows for greater grip and control of the car in limit situations.

Second, the introduction of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) system reduces the steering ratio by 7%, which leads to a more direct response from the steering. Finally, the work done by the engineers of Ferrari in the suspensions makes the Portofino absorb better the difficulties of the road than the California T.

Inside, the infotainment system features a 10.2 “touch screen, steering wheel design, the new climate control that improves passenger comfort, especially with the roof closed, seats electrically adjustable in up to 18 positions And a new design of the backrest that allows a greater space for the legs of the rear passengers.

The Portofino is 16 mm longer than the California T (4.586 vs 4.570 mm), 28 mm wider (1.938 vs 1.910 mm) but is 4 mm lower (1318 vs 1322 mm). The distribution of weights is distributed in 46% in the front axle and 54% in the rear.

To know more about him we will have to wait for his official presentation at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
