German automaker Daimler will invest 500 million euros in a four-cylinder engine factory for Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the Polish town of Jawor, southwest of the country, where 500 jobs will be created.
Mercedes-Benz Cars reported that today the foundation stone of this factory was placed, which will have the most modern production methods and technologies 4.0 for this industry.
The new plant sits on an area of 50 hectares and is the first Mercedes-Benz factory in Poland.
“The new engine factory in Poland is an important part of the growth strategy of Mercedes-Benz Cars,” said Supply Chain Production Manager Markus Schäfer.
Mercedes-Benz Cars will produce engines for hybrid and also combustion vehicles and prepares long-term production for electric mobility, Schäfer added.
The event was attended by Polish Vice President and Minister of Economic Development and Finance Mateusz Morawiecki.
