Carbon overdrive for the Volvo S60 and V60 Polestar

Automotive News

Both models also improve their aerodynamics and will be available only in a run limited to 1,500 units.

Better aerodynamics and higher-performance shock absorbers and brakes.

The Volvo family of 60 is close to receiving a new generation, but there is still time for the present to incorporate a new update. The turn this time is for the S60 and V60, but not the conventional, if not the sportiest of the range: the Polestar.

The Swedish brand claims that they have changed more than 250 components compared to their predecessors. Among the highlights is a specific aerodynamic kit that improves airflow and whose elements are mostly made of carbon fiber: front splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler extension. Thanks to this, the aerodynamic load increases by 30%, thus optimizing the stability at high speeds.

In the mechanical section there are small adjustments, the most important being the new Öhlins adjustable dampers and the Brembo brakes with 371 mm discs on the front axle bitten by six piston calipers.

There are no changes in the engine, which remains a 2.0 biturbo of 367 hp and 470 Nm. With all the above mentioned improvements get a time in the 0-100 km / h of 4.7 seconds for the S60 and of 4.8 for the V60; Both are limited to a maximum speed of 250 km / h. Its average approved consumption is 7.8 and 8.1 l / 100 km, respectively.

Only 1,500 units of these new Polestar will be sold and its price has not yet been revealed.
