Car production in Spain rose 3.8% in November but dropped 2.7% in accumulated

The production of vehicles in Spain has increased in November by 3.8% compared to the same month in 2016, but in the accumulated of the year has fallen by 2.7%, reported today by the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers and Trucks (Anfac).

In the penultimate month of 2017, production closed with 297,757 units, while from January to November, 2,673,909 vehicles were manufactured, the employer said in a statement.

For Anfac, the increase in production for the third consecutive month is due to “the progressive normalization” of manufacturing in those Spanish plants where modifications were made to the assembly lines to adapt them to the arrival of new models.

On the other hand, the employers highlighted the “slight rise in exports” and the positive figures of the domestic market, although he recalled that in the balance of the year the negative sign continues to be maintained.

By type of vehicle, the cars reached a total of 2,104,148 units manufactured in the accumulated of the first eleven months of the year, which represents a fall of 4.4% year on year; while in November there was an increase of 2.2%, to 236,190 manufactured units.

The commercial and industrial vehicles reached a total of 524,807 units in the accumulated of the year, a rebound of 4.3% compared to the same period of the previous year; and in November, 56,185 units were manufactured, which represented an 11.4% increase in the interannual rate.

With regard to the export of vehicles, in the accumulated figure of the first eleven months of the year, 2,290,288 units were sent abroad, a decrease of 0.8% in comparison with the same period of the previous year.

Last month, foreign sales reached 254,324 units, 2.8% more year-on-year.
