Aston Martin promised a new model every year and the big bet for 2018 will be the new Vantage, the small brother of the range that from next spring will complement the DB11 and that will close the Gaydon catalog that will crown, as early as 2019- 2020 Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR hyper sports.
The Aston Martin Vantage will partly inherit the lines of the DB10 that James Bond made famous in ‘Specter’, the film for which it was expressly designed and where it will remain forever. The Vantage will be its real embodiment, although the production car will have its own personality. It will also pair with the DB11 when it inherits its aluminum frame, although the Aston Martin technicians speak of 70 percent of its own components.
Aesthetically it is more aggressive than the DB11 thanks to its smaller size (in fact, the Vantage with its 4.46 meters -28 cms less than its bigger brother- would be a rival of the size of the 911 or the Audi R8 and will have only two plazas). Its fluid lines hide an obsession with aerodynamics (as if the influence of Adrian Newey was beyond even the Valkyrie that is developing for the brand), in the style of what we saw in the DB11, which is capable of generating much support without need for raucous spoilers and spoilers. The Vantage goes in that same line.
However, the interior has a lot of personality. The center console adopts an 8-inch top screen (from Mercedes, just like the touch control control of its functions) but the rest is dominated by buttons, more than is usual in modern times. The triangular arrangement of the buttons for the different programs of change is striking, an esthetic resource that is original. All with a driver sitting 10 mm lower than in the previous Vantage.
With AMG spirit
As it could not be otherwise after having already made its appearance in the DB11, the heart of the Vantage will be AMG. The synergies with Daimler will allow baby Aston to have the 4.0 V8 biturbo that we discovered for the first time in the Mercedes-AMG GT, this time in a variant of 510 horses (same as DB11 V8). It will be associated with an automatic eight-speed gearbox ZF located in the rear position, which will allow a perfect weight distribution (on a scale the Vantage remains at 1,530 kilos).
With this German soul the Vantage will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 314 kilometers per hour … nothing to envy the DB11. If your consumption approved 10.5 liters is close to reality, it will also be another point in your favor … although surely unimportant for your future owner.
To ‘submit’ the power of the propeller, the Vantage 2018 will have different strategies. For example, a Skyhook adaptive suspension with three damping programs (Sport, Sport Plus and Track), a rear electronic differential (element that first assembles an Aston Martin), specific Pirelli P Zero tires and a system of vector torque distribution that a priori completes a set of very high dynamic level.
The Vantage will not relinquish another part of the personality of Aston Martin: comfort and exclusivity on board. Therefore, in addition to the first quality materials that we find in the passenger compartment will also have extensive standard equipment with which to justify part of the nearly 180,000 euros that will cost in Spain.
